The 14-Year Run is Done...

Well, 14 years was a good run. But all things must come to an end. Mine did just a bit ago, thanks to State Trooper Bates who clocked me going 54 in a 35... I hadn't had a ticket since before I was married! And I still wouldn't if I were my sisters, Karmen & Tiff, who somehow flirt their way out of EVERY ticket! Brooklyn was sitting in the seat next to me & even said, "Act like Karmen!" but all that would come out was the pathetic look, the begging eyes, & the hard-nose State Trooper didn't buy it. He must enjoy watching a poor helpless girl squirm. Okay, not girl... old lady. Either way, my run is over. I do have to say he was pretty nice, though. I mean, he actually could've given me a ticket for a hundred & some-odd bucks, but he only wrote it in as 10 over the speed limit so that the ticket would only be $75. Plus also, I didn't have proof of insurance in the car (well, it was an expired card, but I DO have insurance!) which he said could've added $116 MORE bucks! Luckily, he just warned me to get the new cards in & didn't cite me on that one, too. Dang it all. Oh, well... Now the pressure is off me. The 14-year run is done!

What does this mean???? Did you get a speeding ticket?? Hope not, my dear. Give us some details.

Oh, Tracy! That is SO FUNNY! I accidentally posted the pics without the words, so I went back to add them while you happened to see only the picture! You caught me mid-post! Ha Ha! If you go back & read it NOW, it'll make more sense! Love you!

"Act like Karmen" That is so funny! I know what you mean. I couldn't get out of a ticket with flirting either. I just wouldn't know how to do it. Bryan says he gets hit on all the time with women trying to get out of tickets.

Bryan has told me to just drop the fact that I am married to a cop and say his name when I get pulled over. He said I would probably get out of tickets that way. I have even seen Bryan do it to get out of a ticket. But I just can't get myself to even do that. I figure if I get a ticket, I pretty much did whatever I was pulled over for. So I just take the ticket.

This post makes it sound like I have gotten lots of tickets. I really haven't. But have gotten a few over the last 10 years.

I wonder how a cop would react to me attempting to flirt. He'd probably laugh at me, and then tell Bryan.

I hope this doesn't mean my luck is going to run out. Tyler has got enough tickets for us both!

14 years! Wow, wish I could say that. I think my last ticket was 3 or 4 years ago. I get them every once in a while. I try to get out of them too. So do you think even if I live across the country I could tell them my bro-in-law in Utah is a police officer and it would work?
BTW- I thought that was a photo of one of your girls- no old lady there!!!

Ha ha! That's funny that I caught you mid post with my first comment... now I know the whole story! Sorry about your ticket...glad he had mercy a little...Mindy said I had to put on here that I have NEVER had a speeding ticket, and she said to say that I always speed, especially when I'm mad! Thanks a lot, Mindy...

When I was younger and still good looking the flirting worked. It probably would have worked for you! My most recent ticket (just over a year ago)I tried the "I have to use the bathroom really bad" excuse. He offered to follow me to a gas station in Soda and then write the ticket! Thanks for filling in for me friday. Im sure you did a much better job than me! I have pictures of Kenna from the job fair. Do you have my email?

I never can get out of tickets either (I've been known to cry AFTER they give me the ticket --when it's too late for pity). Sorry about your streak-ending...but hey that was a good run! And I love to hear that Tracy speeds when she's mad only because I can't imagine Tracy ever GETTING mad.

Wow, 14 years is pretty good, I bet you are the kind of gal who almost never goes the speed limit? Am I right? So 14 years is pretty great. (Didn't mean to offend you there) Brooklyn is so funny to get you to flirt. You look very pretty in the picture by the way!

Ok, so I look at your blog all the time, but I'm so jealous of it I don't want to make comments. It might give you a big head or something! If I lived close by I would fill that cops car with newspaper and tampons! I miss you. wish I could see you soon. We were out there for a 2 day jaunt to look at a house, but no cigar. We just have to be patient I guess! love ya!

Dang it all! That stinks! I think my last ticket was while Dan was on his mission (about 9 yars ago). 14 years is a long time! I think I need to work on my flirting with cops skills too. Maybe Karmen can teach us!

so sad. tickets are the worst. so after he gave you the ticket, did you hand your camara out the window for S.T. Bates to take a picture of your "pathetic look"? :)
If I were him, I'd have let you off right then and there!

When I saw your picture, sorry, I laughted my bum off. I knew exactly what your post was going to say. Not funny you got a ticket, but that look. It is a bummer to break a great steak like that. At the end of last summer I was caught speeding by the Skinner cop here in Georgetown. Man I was MAD. That was my first ticket in my whole life!!! Bummer!

Haaaa! It's about time the law caught up to you! It was back in 1989 that I remember telling you to slow down.

54 in a 35? Wow! You weren't driving under the influence of Keith Urban were you?

So sorry. I wish I could say it had been that long since my last ticket. Let's just say I've had a few.

Guppers, dang them cops....(except Katrina's hubby!)I never could flirt either, or I'd get pulled over when I looked like a hag and didn't have a dying chance of getting out of one...The last one was when I was driving Debbie's car named Nephi...I had to borrow it cuz mine was getting fixed...I got pulled over cuz the plates were expired and it was MY fault cuz I didn't check before driving it...

Karmen said...

"Pull a Karmen"..."Act like Karmen" What is THAT supposed to mean?! I NEVER flirted with the 14 cops who have pulled me over in my driving days (I also never received a ticket from those cops, but it had nothing to do with flirting!)I just smiled, looked them in the eye and showed them a little skin...

Ruuddudes said...

"...a little skin..." that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about!!! :)

Darren Draper said...

A little skin? You Campbell girls really know how to get things done.

No wonder I'm always getting tickets. I have no skin to show. :)

That WAS a good run - too bad it's over! The flirting with the cop thing worked in high school, but I just get too nervous when they pull me over now, and I think they can see how stupid I feel and they have pity on me! I have had one ticket in my life, though (knock on wood...), so we all don't get off scott-free you know! :) And, the last time I was pulled over, I was on my way to YOUR house. I was coming from Rexburg w/o Mike, coming down Fish Creek, singing my little guts out to Shania Twain, and I guess I was going 83 in a 65...oops! I was 6 or 7 months pregnant, AND I didn't have my proof of insurance in the car (but I did have insurance...), and I still didn't get a ticket! Hee hee. Next time you're planning on a-speeding, just make sure to pack a basketball in the backseat so you can pull the "pregnant" thing, too. Maybe that'll help. And what is it with our family and the number 14? You didn't have a ticket for 14 years, Karmen's been pulled over 14 times, and I lost track of how many times I'd been pulled over after 14...Hmmm!

Ruuddudes said...

Under the influence of Keith Urban?!! That is the BEST!

that face has got to be my favorite face ever.. I'm sorry you ended your streak, but 14 years is cause for a celebration!

Camille said...

Gup, I need to take a lesson from you Karmen and Tiff it sounds like! Crap, I bet I've had at least 6 tickets already in my life!! Good for you for going 14 without one!

Jared and Steph Gunn said...

oh gup I got one too. the same week. It sucks. $140 ,, 83 in a 65. The flirting works for me 85 percent of the time. This was one of the 15 percent that it does'nt; Stupid dangit.
