A Little Excitement for Montpelier...

Brielle, cell-phone in hand, taking pictures to send her aunts. She was SO excited!
You can see Tony & Bridger on the far left of the screen... riding the "steel horse"...

This is how pathetic we are. Obviously we have a real desperate need for something to do. Small towns are good only up to a certain point. What am I talking about? Just look closely at the pictures. Yesterday, Tony & Bridger got on our "steel horse" (our 4-wheeler for all you city-slickers) and helped move cattle with a friend of ours. Where did they move it, you might ask? RIGHT THRU THE MIDDLE OF TOWN! ON THE HIGHWAY! They even had a police escort! (Three police, to be exact. Lights going and all~) And guess what? That was MORE excitement than this little town has seen in a LONG time! People were stopped all along taking pictures. I was one of them. Of course, I knew they were coming because Tony called me from his cell to give me the "we are in town now" heads-up. ( I didn't want to sit out in the freezing rain, waiting for cows, you know?) Hundreds of cows, mooing and walking. Doesn't SOUND very exciting, but really, it WAS! Little Brielle was with me, running up and down the sidewalk, excitedly taking pictures on my cell-phone to send to her aunts. Like I said, we are a bit pathetic.

I think I should dedicate this post to my cute cousin, Camille, after her post about branding sheep & biting the... well... I don't want to be vulgar... I want to keep my G-rated blog... you'll just have to read hers to know what they were biting off... but anywhoo ~ here's to the country boys out there! Thanks for a little excitment on a rainy & dreary day!

I love the excitement you all are involved with! That is so funny that the town seemed to be watching and taking pics! Way more fun than anything that happens around here!

Holy COWS! My kids will love to see this....real animals! We don't have real animals here..its too hot, only the little yappy house-dogs. That is NOT exciting. But COWS down Main Street? So awesome! And they MOOOO! Funny, I loved it. This will have to be favorited so Gavin will know how to find it and watch it everyday by himself!

HAHA. I'm sure the cops were more than willing to escort because they had nothing better to do. Oh man, the good ole' days in Bear Lake. I'm glad that there were some excitement going on there.

Coming from an even smaller town than you, we get this so often that I forget it's not just the norm. I haven't ever seen it happen downtown with police though, and to people from a city, I'm sure it's wonderful. What great fun that Tony and Brig got help. Steel horses are the best way to go, I think. (If you get bucked off them, it's usually your fault :)

I cant believe I missed all the excitement! I am terribly worried that you Ruuddudes are having way to much fun or going out of your minds so much that you are amused by such "Fascinating Events"! We should probably take our "Date Night" out of this small town!

I love it! I come from small town.Like they say:The simple things are the best.

We move cows, but not with such flair! Our excitement consists of a couple of calves taking off and the chase begins.
Coming out in July, would love to see you!

That looks like excitement to me! But then my town is even smaller than yours. Monpelier looks practically cosmopolitan compared to Sunnyside! I really do want to some and visit you sometime, even just for a day. I love Idaho, it's my home state after Utah, you know! The cattle drive sounds just like something out of the book "Little Britches"! Very cool Guppy!

Ha ha! I just read Val's comment! Holy Cows! That's a good one!

Ha ha ha...good ol' Bear Lake! I remember when I lived with you, I just about hit a bunch of cows being herded on the highway! I came around the bend in St. Charles (or one of those small towns over there) and had to slam on my breaks because they were all moseying along down the road. Only they didn't have a police escort, and no one warning you that they were there. But it IS rather funny seeing it in real life! I, too, got the text - thanks Briellie Loo-hoo!

Wow, your blog and Steph's blog makes me want to pack up and move to Montpelier, just for some excitement in my life! Partying on the overpass and cows everywhere! What next?!

Man, I'm sad I missed that! My kids would have LOVED it. Too funny what we get to do and see in small towns. Hey you can go anywhere and find shopping malls and fancy resturants. But only in Montpelier will you see a cattle herd going down Main Street!
I love it here right now, but that might have something to do with the weather FINALLY being nice!

This post actually made me miss good ol Montpelier. Seeing the Maverik and the highway, made me homesick. You have to love small towns. I agree with Callie, the police had nothing better to do. But in a way that is a good thing eh?
